I am an artist working in textiles and mixed media to create work inspired by a sense of place and our human position within that space.
My work tends to be abstract and process-led, focusing on line, pattern, colour and texture. I draw inspiration from urban and rural landscapes, and small details such as a rusty gatepost, or a weathered harbour wall. I am fascinated by the process of breakdown and decay in the world around us.
The starting point for much of my work is a photograph or series of photographs. I interpret these observations through mark-making with dye, earth pigments, print, paint, image transfer and stitch. I work mostly with cloth, sometimes paper, intuitively cutting, piecing and collaging.
